FACILITATOR FOR THIS PANEL: Nationally recognized author, publisher and speaker Maria Dismondy is dedicated to inspiring and empowering children. She has authored nine children’s books and made more than 800 speaking appearances. She lives in southeast Michigan with her husband, Dave, and their three children.

Irene Latham is a grateful creator of many books for children, seven of which focus on poetry for kids. She lives on a lake in rural Alabama where she writes every single day, usually wearing flip-flops.

Patti Richards has spent nearly 30 years spinning yarns and telling tales. From local newspapers and regional and national magazines to published children’s books, her life revolves around writing words that speak hope, love and joy. She lives in Michigan with her husband Gene.

Michelle Schaub's book Fresh-Picked Poetry: A Day at the Farmers’ Market won the 2018 Growing Good Kids Award and 2019 Northern Lights Book Award. She is also the author of Finding Treasure: A Collection of Collections, an NCTE notable poetry book for 2020. She speaks at conferences on the power of poetry to boost literacy and shares ways to use poetry in the classroom.

Elizabeth Steinglass grew up in St. Louis where she played soccer, basketball, and softball, read books, and wrote her first poems. Her book Soccerverse: Poems about Soccer includes 22 poems about the game. She lives in Washington, DC where she enjoys walking in the woods, writing poetry, and spending time with her family.

Charles Waters is the coauthor of Can I Touch Your Hair? Poems of Race, Mistakes and Friendship, which received a 2019 Charlotte Huck Honor and Dictionary For a Better World: Poems, Quotes and Anecdotes from A - Z.  His work has appeared in many anthologies including: Amazing Places, The Proper Way to Meet a Hedgehog, and The National Geographic Book of Animal Poetry. He has three books -- and counting -- coming out in the next couple years.
